Who João is
João Sousa Pinto is from Amarante, Portugal, and has been to 53 countries, mostly alone and mostly off the usual routes.
In April 2025 he won the 10 km at the Pyongyang marathon in North Korea. The story ran in Observador, Público, JN and NiT.
He shows what he finds on TikTok and Instagram. Sidequests is how he takes more people with him.
Questions
Who can come?
Adults over 18 who are healthy enough to walk for several hours a day. You do not need to be an athlete. You do need to show up fit and willing to be part of a group.
What does the price include?
Accommodation, transport during the trip, the activities in the programme and João as your guide. Your flight to the meeting point and travel insurance are on you. Each trip page has the details.
How do I pay?
Half as a deposit when you are approved, the other half by 60 days before departure. We take card, MB Way, Multibanco and bank transfer.
What if I have to cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable because it holds a seat someone else wanted. The balance is refunded in full if you cancel 60 days or more before departure.
Do I need a visa for Russia?
Portuguese citizens need an e-visa, applied for online. Brazilian citizens do not need a visa for short stays. We send the steps once your seat is confirmed.
Can I come alone?
Yes. The group is small on purpose and by the end of day one nobody is alone.
